Moonlight
A town built close to the imperial capital
It was made too suddenly.
There are many parts of the town that are not finished.
The town was given top priority so that it would not have to worry about food, clothing, and shelter during the festival.
There are still no street lights to illuminate the streets at night like in the imperial capital or other large cities.
I feel as if I have not seen a dark street in 80 long years.
No, it's not dark.
There's not a single cloud in the night sky tonight
The moonlight is dazzling
The moon is already over the top
The people who were up late drinking and making noise have gone to bed.
Well
The festival continues for three days
When the sun rises it will get noisy again
"………?"
In such a quiet town
I see a figure.
"...Mother and Father?"
My father, Shiro.
My mother, Wince
Quietly went out of town
"I think there was a puddle over there..."
Puddle
Not the small brown ones that form on rainy days.
It's a bare patch of hard bedrock.
It's a concave shape.
It's not a place where you have to worry about drinking water, so it's left alone.
...I'm kind of curious about it, so I keep a distance and follow them.
---------
Slowly
Father follows Mother's steps.
Father supports Mother, who sometimes seems to collapse
I can only see his back, so I can't see his expression.
Then when they arrived at the puddle
The two take off their shoes and walk to the center of the puddle.
The ripples created by the two of them are illuminated by the moonlight
It was a fantastic sight.
The two hold hands and lay their bodies on top of each other
And begin to dance.
They do not raise their legs
They do not step vigorously
While shaking their body little by little
They turn slowly and quietly.
It seems like they're saying something, but I can't hear it.
But it doesn't matter
The moonlight shines on the two of them
The expressions of the two people are very calm.
They look so happy.
I stare at them from afar.
I was able to recognize once again that the peaceful days had finally returned
The enemy still exists
But for now, let's forget about it
