Toward Winter
I never spoke to Eugenia after that.
We met in class, but she was clearly avoiding me.
Mileina seems to be avoided as well.
"Sorry, you two. Let Ojousama be for a little while."
That's what Tinia told us, so we won't get involved.
---
"Ask-san!"
It's a sad way to put it, but a while after that, we got used to that situation.
"Mileina?"
"How was your final exam?"
"No problem. Seems like you'll be fine, too."
"Yes, now that I understand what Ask-san told me, it's much easier. I won't think about staying up all night before exams anymore!"
"That's good"
Many students have the same misunderstanding.
No, I had that way of thinking when I was a child, so I can't look down on it.
When I was younger
I wasn't good at studying
Especially arithmetic
I was trying to somehow remember the questions and answers.
When I was having such a hard time, sensei said something to me.
"Ask. Don't memorize by linking the question and answer; instead, remember how to give the answer."
"There's no point in just memorizing the formula and the answer."
"What is required of studying is to [apply] what is taught in the future.''
Ever since I learned this, the hardships of studying have been greatly reduced.
I shared that experience with Mileina.
Don't just know the answer
The importance of thinking is about why we come to that answer.
"I think the other students had a hard time with the last question."
"It was an applied problem that we didn't learn about in class."
It was simply a compilation from summer to autumn.
I don't like that the question text is also difficult to understand.
It will be very difficult to understand complex sentences when you are exhausted from the previous problem.
"The test results will be out in two days."
"It seems like everyone is busy today and tomorrow preparing to go back to their hometowns for the winter break."
"Is Mileina okay?"
"Yes, I applied for short-term work rather than go home."
Apparently, you can work in the agricultural department building during the winter school closure.
"I can learn about agriculture, earn money, and eat meals in the dormitory, so it’s a paradise while school is closed!"
"There won't be many people, so the dormitory will probably be quiet."
"Ask-san, are you going home?"
"No, I'm going to stay in the dormitory. While I'm working."
I will also be allowed to work for a short period of time.
It's not a school job.
"Aristes is an adventurer. I will work as his support."
"Ask-san, do you mean to work as an adventurer too?"
"Maybe, but I don't think they would entrust such a dangerous job to me, a student."
"Please be careful, okay?"
"I'll be careful enough."
