Eternal Adventurer (WN): Chapter 77

Chapter 77: Town of Salt

"The sun is stinging... Karen, are you okay?"

"Yes! Robin is fine too."

"Brehii!"

Doru and Karen lead the way

And by the way, Robin is the name of the donkey.

Doru is drenched in sweat, but he is walking with his back straight.

Karen should be the most heavily clothed in the group, but she's completely relaxed.

And I'm in last place.

"Sylvie. Are you okay?"

"It's tough, but it's not so tough that I'll fall over."

Quies, who is in front of me, worries about me.

The seven of us are physically fit.

We can walk all day long.

That's why I thought we'd be fine on this trip, too.

“Why is the sun so strong around the salt lake of Nanarka? If you wring out the clothes, they'll drip water."

"Sylvie, you shouldn't roll up your clothes like that!"

"Isn't it alright? We already saw each other's naked bodies."

“Look, Karen's here, too.”

"Besides, why is it so hot here?"

"I don't know the details, but it's because there are no clouds around here."

There are a lot of clouds floating over the mountains in the distance.

"I wonder if those clouds will come this way?"

"It will be there in a few days, so we'll just have to be patient until then."

“A few days? The Snake Dragon will be defeated before then."

"Nah. It will rain, and then we'll go out on the day it comes, so that won't happen."

"We're going to wait in this heat!?"

“Yes, we'll wait. Don't worry, I have enough money to spend in the nearest town."

"Guhee... I wonder if it will be night soon."

"No, they say it's worse at night."

"Why?"

"Because it's so cold. Early in the morning, the water is freezing."

----------

And then we arrive at [Nike], a town near Salt Lake Nanarka.

"So, what are we doing here?"

"We'll wait?"

"Until it rains?"

"Yes"

We're really not going to do anything.

"Don't go out of town. I want us to be able to gather immediately."

"All right. Karen, let's go get dinner."

"Yes"

"You guys coming?"

"""I will go along."""

With that said, Doru, Karen, and the trio went out.

"I'll stay at the inn."

Quies will be taking a break

"Sedona, let's go shopping!"

"What do they have here?"

“Hmm …salt?”

"It sure is. Also on the ground."

The ground is pure white even in the town

Just outside the gate

A lump of salt cut out of the ground is tied to a wagon.

“So this will be transported all over the kingdom.”

"Father said salt is essential to the human body. Why is that?"

Even if you ask me that

"Minerals? Or blood concentration? Or electrolytes? I don't understand it at all."

"He also said that too much is bad."

"Yes, yes, Grandfather was very angry. He said he couldn't drink without salt."

"Which grandfather?"

"Father's. At first, he put salt on the rim of his cup and drank it. When that wasn't enough, he bit off a lump of salt, and Shiro Nii-chan stopped him by force."

"Is salt dangerous?"

“I heard that it causes abnormalities in the circulation of blood. The doctor at the mansion was skeptical, but when he tried it on a monster, it really did cause it a lot of trouble and it died."

"Scary! I have to stop eating salt."

“You know what they say about not taking salt?”

"What should I do..."

"Everything should be in moderation. Ah!"

I found a stall.

"Welcome"

"Is this an accessory?"

"Oh, that's interesting."

It's a round, transparent little accessory.

Inside it was a shiny yellow metal.

"It's not gold. Brass?"

"Ah, do you understand? Some people misunderstand it and get angry saying, [It's fake~!], so I'm in trouble."

"It's polished carefully. Some people would get it wrong."

Besides this conversation, Sedona said.

"Eh, it's not gold?"

She muttered

That was dangerous. If I hadn't said it, Sedona might have gotten angry.

"What's that transparent stuff on the outside?"

"It's from a sap of the trees that grow around here. It dries for days and then is polished with salt."

"Heh... this is tree sap. How much?"

"Five copper coins"

Cheaper than expected

“You can't charge more?”

"I'm not trying to make a profit from this. I'm selling them as a memento of the travelers who came here."

"Heh..."

"They're completely sealed with sap, so they'll shine for a long time."

"Then, give me three. No, please give me five."

"Thank you. Is it for your family?"

"Yeah, I'm very close to my family."

"What about you, little girl?"

"Then give me three of these"

"Three? Ah, I have just the thing."

The street vendor pulls out a same sap and brass accessories as the others.

But the shape is strange.

The sap on the outside is flat like a coin

"These three come as a set. Here."

Saying that, when the three pieces were stacked on top of each other, they formed a single pattern.

"They are the right wing, body, and left wing of a dragon."

When you put them on top of each other, they become one dragon.

It's like an accessory just for Sedona.

"Yes, that set. I'll take it please."

"Thank you! That's fifteen coppers."

I know who she would give it to.

And then for a while.

Sedona stacked them on top of each other and stared at them through the sun.
