Sora Clan, Cal
Another woman purchased from a slaver. Her name is Lilfi.
Lilfi is actually a succubus and a spy who collects information in the empire.
While working as a prostitute in a town near the Empire called Fort Diggins, she received information from an Imperial soldier that an elf was being held captive in the fortress.
When she heard that the elf was sold to a slave trader, she also infiltrated the establishment as a slave. There, she discovered Cal, the elf in question, and it seemed she had been accompanying her until now.
"Sorry for the inconvenience, Demon King-sama..."
Lilfi said that and took a bow. She was no longer the country-looking woman with a freckled face that I had seen at first, but a beautiful woman with a bewitching face.
"No, it's fine. Can I leave you to take care of Cal from now on?"
"Of course. Leave it to me."
I first listened to the details from Shamu and Lilfi.
First of all, the relationship between Shamu and Cal seems to be that they are childhood friends. Apparently, when the Succubus tribe was under the care of the elves, Shamu and Cal got along well because they were close in age. She told me that she excelled in military prowess and were good friends.
In Lilfi's talk, I learned about the current movements of the empire. Currently, the number of demi-human slaves in the empire is decreasing, and prices seem to be rising. For that reason, it seems that they are expanding their search in the [Demon Forest] in search of new demi-humans.
Cal was captured at that time. With Cal's capture as impetus, the Empire seems to be proceeding with a full-scale exploration of the foothills of the Fire Dragon Mountains.
"Does that mean there is an elf village at the foot of the Fire Dragon Mountains?"
"Yes. That is what is expected."
"Ah... ah... ah..."
While we were talking, Cal started moaning, so we immediately went to her.
"What's wrong! Cal!"
Shamu grabs Cal's hand and asks.
"Sora... help Sora clan..."
The sight of Cal muttering in a hoarse voice was a painful sight...
"Is Sora clan in the Fire Dragon Mountains?"
At Shamu's question, Cal sheds tears and nods.
"Light-sama! Please! Grant Cal's wish... please lend us your strength to save Sora clan!"
Shamu turned to me and lowered her head. I saw teardrops fall on the floor.
I put my hand on Shamu's shoulder and answered.
"Of course. But not right now. We'll have to gather information and set up a plan. Shamu, please work hard as the tribe chief."
Shamu looked up at my words and answered with a strong nod.
The current problem is Cal. Honestly, I don't want the family to see this painful situation, but everyone's cooperation is essential. I called the family in front of the room where Cal was staying and explained the situation, then brought them in.
As expected, everyone's faces were cloudy. Fran and Rain let out a small scream at the sight of such a gruesome sight. I placed my hands on their shoulders and bowed my head.
"Everyone, I'm sorry. I know it is hard to see... But it's also Shamu's wish to help her. I also want to help her. So... could you please help me?"
Fran and Rain took my hand and answered.
"I'm sorry... I made a rude noise... I understand how you feel, Light-san. Of course, if there is anything I can do, I will cooperate."
"Onii-sama... I can't forgive them... I can't forgive them for doing this terrible thing... I can't forgive the Empire..."
Fran and Rain answered my feelings with tears. It was the same for everyone in the family.
After introducing Cal to the family, I made dentures and a wheelchair for her. I hope this will make her life a little easier.
I decided to talk to Cal while giving her the dentures and the wheelchair.
"What do you think? Do you feel comfortable?"
Cal just nodded quietly. I knew she was emotionally depressed. Just when I thought it might be impossible to have a conversation with her, she let out a mumbled voice.
"Are you... a Demon King?"
"Yeah. That's right."
Cal looked at me with blank eyes, then lowered her head.
"Demon King... can you please kill me?"
Even when I heard that wish, my heart remained unmoved.
"I can't grant that wish."
"Why?"
"If I do that, Shamu will be sad. I don't want to see my family sad."
"Isn't Shamu your subject?"
"I don't consider her a subject."
Cal's expression didn't change, but she seemed puzzled by my words.
"Why does Cal want to help the Sora clan?"
I asked Cal that. Cal was silent for a while, then the answer came quietly.
"Because it's family..."
"Then it is the same for me. Everyone who loves me and stays by my side, even if they're not related by blood, is family to me. I don't want to see such people's misfortune, and I want to help them. Isn't it normal to want to?"
Cal stares at me in silence. Her empty eyes seemed to have a slight glimmer of light.
"Are you really going to help the Sora clan... due to Shamu's wish...?"
"Of course. It's Shamu's wish, but I have also promised to help the elves to the dark elves and Strea-san."
"Dark Elf... do you mean the Dan clan? By Strea, you mean the demon king Strea?"
Cal was surprised.
"Yeah, that's right. Strea-san, the elf demon king who disappeared from the demon territory 300 years ago. And I'm protecting the dark elves led by Village Chief Dan, who went separate ways with your clan."
Cal was stunned by those words, and then began to shed tears.
"No way... I never expected a dream-like story..."
She wiped her tears with her remaining arm, but she kept crying until it was late.
