On the Way to the Republic
Lida's pregnancy was a happy event, and the family stayed up late.
Lida also learned that she was pregnant, and was relieved to know the cause of her poor health, so she was able to thoroughly eat the sweet fruit that was served to her as a midnight snack.
The next morning, I was relieved to see her eating breakfast, albeit a light one, without worrying about any ill health, and then we teleported to the Baron territory.
Because I stayed up late and checked on Lida's condition before leaving, it was a little late in the morning, but on the other hand, the south gate of the capital was more empty at this time of day. It was convenient.
After going through the south gate and walking for a while, we checked that there were no pedestrians on the street, and then we moved to a village on the border between the Kingdom and the Republic.
I have been to all the villages in the Baron territory on house calls when I was a child, so I have been to this border village as well.
This village also serves as a gateway to the Republic, so it is illegal to enter the Republic without passing through this village, so the entry and exit procedures must be completed here.
After completing the formalities, we left the village and walked for half a day to reach the border.
There is only one road from the Barony's checkpoint village to the Republic's villages, but to be honest, the absence of Lida as a guide may be a bit of a pain here.
The village on the Republic side is the so-called checkpoint, but the only route beyond that village is a simple map drawn by Lida. It might be a little bit awkward for me, Rain and Shamu, who don't know the area well.......
But, well... if we're heading to the Water Dragon Mountains first, I guess it won't be a problem as long as Ginko, who is familiar with the Demon Forest, is here.
On the way to the Republic checkpoint village, I was lost in thought when Rain's voice brought me back to my senses.
"Onii-sama, are you worried about Lida Onee-sama?"
Before I knew it, Rain, who was standing next to me, asked me that question, and I was a little worried about what to answer.
"Yeah... I'm worried, but I'm more concerned about why she got pregnant..."
Lida's pregnancy is a joyous thing. However, I am curious about the reason why I was able to do what I was told was difficult to do.
It's true that everyone in the family was celebrating Lida's pregnancy last night. However, I sensed that there was a little bit of jealousy mixed in in that expression.
After all, as a woman, they probably have a desire to have a child with the man they love.
As a man, I feel sorry for not being able to fulfill that desire.
And I thought that if I could figure out the cause of Lida's pregnancy, I could satisfy that desire for the whole family.
"Do you want a child with me too, Rain?"
Rain's face turned red after hearing what I asked so casually.
"Jeez... ♡ Onii-sama is too abrupt. That's... um... I have a longing for it, but..."
"If I can figure out the cause of Lida's pregnancy... I might be able to impregnate the entire family..."
"L-Light-sama! Am I in it too!?"
Shamu asks me in a panic, so I nod in response.
"Of course. Even though Ginko doesn't seem to have any interest in it, I'm fully intent on impregnating her."
Ginko is surprised by my words.
"What!? Me too!?"
"I want to impregnate the woman I love. As a man, I need to have that kind of courage."
Ginko was a little taken aback by my words and turned red, but it wasn't just Ginko, it was Rain and Shamu as well.
After everyone was walking in silence for a while, Shamu opened her mouth as if she had noticed.
"Light-sama, how about we ask your predecessor, Strea-sama, about this?"
I see, that's certainly true.
Strea-san is a senior Demon King to me, and above all, he is an elf just like Lida. He may know something, and he may be able to give me some advice.
"Yes, that's a good idea. And I can report the pregnancy while I'm at it, which is nice."
For now, I agreed to talk to Strea-san about Lida's pregnancy.
It was just before nightfall when we arrived at the village of the Republic's checkpoint. After completing the formalities, we stayed at an inn and left the village at sunrise.
From here, we deviate from the road and head towards the [Demon Forest]. Our goal is the Water Dragon Mountains.
Before entering the [Demon Forest], I teleported Shamu and Rain to the house. The fastest way to move through the forest is to ride Ginko in her Fenrir form. I could have put Rain on Ginko, and Shamu could have used her [Flying Magic] to chase after us, but this would have taken a little time.
So I decided to proceed here with just me and Ginko.
