Demon King and the Villainess
I had somehow teleported to the pavilion at the academy.
Come to think of it, this is a place filled with fond memories of Fran, Rain, and I often chatting and having lunch together.
The academy is quiet and empty, and the moonlit pavilion has a somewhat romantic atmosphere.
"Light-san... thank you..."
Fran cried silently as she clung to my chest. I took off the full-face helmet I was wearing and gently stroked her head.
"I'm sorry... for making you wait so long... for causing you a hard time..."
She shook her head in my chest.
"Even when I'm having a hard time... I always remember Light-san's face. Thanks to that, I've been able to do my best until today. So... please don't apologize."
Fran and I stared at each other for a while, at a loss for words. However, I decided to muster up my courage and tell her.
"I finally decided to be honest about my feelings. So... I'm going to tell you clearly now. I love Fran. So, will you put aside your noble status and your fiance and stay by my side?"
Fran shed tears again at my words. I wipe the falling drops with my fingers. She looked at me with a gentle smile and answered.
"Yes, you are where I belong. It's the place I wanted to return to. So... I look forward to working with you from now on."
She said that to me with a big smile illuminated by the moonlight and kissed me on the lips.
That day, in front of the mansion at the end of the vacation, it wasn't a farewell kiss, but a kiss of the beginning of the future. It felt warm.
Fran and I sit in the pavilion and look at the moon.
"The moon is beautiful."
Fran probably muttered that casually, but I couldn't help but smile. In my previous life, that was a slang for [I love you].
"What's wrong?"
"No, it's nothing. The moon is beautiful because I see it with you."
When I replied that, Fran's face turned a little red. It seems that the meaning was understood here as well.
"Still, it feels strange. Just when I thought I was condemned like a villainess in a story, I was courted by the Demon King."
Fran, who had changed the topic, smiled and spoke.
"Is there a story in which the villainess becomes happy?"
"Yes, there is. I feel like I'm the main character today."
After all, did the [villainess] even exist in this world?
"Would you have preferred to be with the prince?"
"No. It's a punishment if it's with the prince, so I'm happy with the Demon King."
Having that conversation, we both laugh together. As I looked at the moon again, Fran suddenly looked sad.
"Sylvie-san… I wonder what will happen…"
I couldn't answer that.
Sylvie was entrusted to the church from an early age and underwent rigorous training. When she reached the age of 12, she began to undergo s*xual abuse, which was called training. Then, around the age of 14, she manifested the [Saint] skill.
The priests of the church took advantage of this.
Sylvie had already been in a state of [brainwashing] in her life, but in order to make it easier to use her personality, they changed her personality using a magical tool called the [Memory Orb].
The memories contained in the [Memory Orb] probably belong to the summoned person. I think it contained a lot of knowledge that doesn't exist in this world.
Based on those memories, they formed a convenient personality and attached it to Ains. Then, by chance, if Schwartz was assassinated and made her Ains' wife. If Ains inherits the throne, it will become a vassal state of the church...
That's what the priest seemed to be thinking.
I can sympathize with the fact that Sylvie was treated as a tool, so to speak. But...... I can't forgive her for the way she treated Fran until today.
In that sense, I had unresolved feelings for Sylvie.
"Light-san... this may be selfish, but... can you help Sylvie-san as well?"
Fran stared at me with a serious expression.
I see... maybe I fell in love with Fran's inner strength and kindness.
"I understand. I'll see what I can do."
I had no choice but to answer that.
