Farewell to the Party
Two days after the date.
Today we decided to clean the house we bought and install the furniture and miscellaneous things.
When we were about to head to the house, the party members offered to help.
"Maria has taken care of our food on our travel. We'd like to help you in return for the good food."
When Bless said so, the other members nodded.
Jereid-san remained as McQueen-san's escort, but all the other six people followed us to the house.
The cleanup went well, and Maria told me that she wanted to have a lavish lunch to say goodbye to everyone, so I gave her some money and sent her shopping.
Maria was accompanied by Lida, Aletta, and Henrietta.
"Huh? Is it okay not going with them, Rain?"
When I asked Rain, she replied, [I thought Mother might like to spend some time alone with her friends].
"Besides, if only men were left behind, you guys might cut corners on cleaning, right? That's why I'm going to keep an eye on you guys!"
Rain said so and glared at us men.
So we quietly started cleaning.
When the furniture was installed, the women came back from shopping and seemed to be having fun. It seems that the four people are cooking as it is.
The men are now cleaning the garden.
We were a little tired, so when we sat down and took a rest, the strict watchman, Rain, scolded us.
"If you take a rest, you won't eat Mother's delicious meals!"
So we worked hard.
It was a little late for lunch, but the house was cleaned and the furniture was installed, so we started the lunch and farewell party.
Maria's food was a bit burnt and her cooking was a bit rough, but that was the twins' fault.
They had grown up in a nice family and were not good at cooking or housework.
Today they were happy that Maria had taught them how to cook, and it was amusing to see Maria and Lida smiled wrily a little when they saw it.
Maria had also prepared some alcohol.
At that time, I realized that Flight-san could not drink alcohol. I thought that he was a heavy drinker.
The young people at the party didn't seem to know that either, and were very surprised.
After such a pleasant lunch, we returned to the inn.
We also thought it would be a shame to part with that, so we decided to stay at the inn until the day they left.
Four days later, we said goodbye to them.
"Thank you for your help, McQueen-san. Please accept this if you like. Please take it as a token of my appreciation for your help this time and as a sample of how I can be your business partner in the future."
Saying that, I took out five long swords from my [Spatial Magic]. McQueen-san carefully looked at each one before answering.
"It pains me to receive such a wonderful gift for free, but I will do my best to repay you in the future through our business relationship."
Saying that, McQueen-san and I shook hands.
"No, Light's sword is amazing. I want one too."
Jereid-san approached me while saying so.
"If you join McQueen-san next year, I can make you one. But we'll have to discuss the price."
"Haha! You're shrewd, but it's not a bad offer. Next year, if it's convenient, I'll show up again. Until then, don't die."
Saying that, he stroked my head.
After all, I was happy to know that he was worried about us, who started out as adventurers.
"Hey, hey. You're still a child if you're happy to be patted on the head."
With that, he returned to his escort position.
Then we said goodbye to each other and it was Lida's turn.
Today she was wearing the bracelet I gave her.
However, for her usual expression, her expression is dark...
I also feel kind of sad about parting ways.
Usually, I would smile and say, [See you next year!], but I still felt pain in my heart remembering the way she was embarrassed at that moment, perhaps because I had become conscious of her after the one time I gave her the bracelet.
"It's no longer a regular thing. But we'll see each other again next year, so don't look like that."
Lida smiles and pinches my cheek, her smile is a little awkward.
"You put the bracelet on. Thank you."
I smiled at her and she hugged me.
"Thank you. I'll be back next year, so stay healthy."
Lida let go of me, waved her hand, and returned to her position.
After confirming that Lida had returned, McQueen-san gave the signal for departure, and the carriage started moving. Everyone didn't look back.
We watched the group heading for the gate until they were out of sight.
It was the signal for the beginning of our life in this city.
The beginning of a new life for our family.
