Eternal Adventurer (WN): Chapter 106

Chapter 106: Dream, Reality, or Illusion

As usual, my alarm goes off.

I stop it, feeling annoyed by the high-pitched sound that pierces my ears.

It's 5:00 in the morning.

I head to the kitchen, trying to make as little noise as possible.

I heat up the dishes I made yesterday and refrigerated.

I cook rice.

I boiled the ingredients in a pot and add miso.

And I prepared three lunch boxes.

I hear a sound behind me.

"Good morning."

I say to my brother and sister, who have just woken up and changed into their uniforms.

"Good morning, Nii-san"

The family greets each other cheerfully, as usual.

"Onii-chan, listen!"

My sister is a little angry.

"What's wrong, Prelati?"

"He was reading a book with the light on all day yesterday! I couldn't sleep at all because it was so bright!"

Under the eyes of my younger sister, Prelati, there was a faint dark circle.

"It can't be helped, the book I bought yesterday was so interesting that I couldn't stop."

Brother Prelati protests.

"It's not good to stay up late."

"Right?"

"It would have been nice if we have three rooms."

"I don't like that."

"Why?"

"Because I will be alone."

"Then be patient."

"Yes."

And so the three of us went to school together.

"""I'm off"""

We said to the empty house.

We spend the rest of the day at school.

The three of us go home in the evening.

Black, black, black, black, black, black, I felt the sunset was beautiful.

-I don't remember any such thing.-

-------------

Finished eating.

I washed the dishes.

Nothing special to do, so the three of us watched the news on TV.

"1657 years have passed since the massacre of 15 billion people by Iseijin in Showa 89..."

"This year, another healthy baby elf was skewered..."

"Today marks the 37th anniversary of the planet's destruction by the collapse of the 15th planet in a cataclysmic earthquake."

"It is speculated that the dragon that fell from the stratosphere died at the end of its lifespan..."

"The world is dying..."

"It's natural for everyone to die..."

"Today is the day of my death..."

"You will die..."

"Die..."

"Die..."

"Die, die, die..."

"Let them all die..."

Prelati turned off the TV with a bored look on his face.

"Ah, today is also a [usual] day with nothing changing."

"Shall we go to sleep now?"

"I guess so."

I headed to the bedroom

"Good night, then."

""Good night, Shiro Nii-chan.""

-I don't remember any such thing.-

-----------

The next day.

I wake up in the glare and heat.

"Ah... the roof."

The roof was burnt

"We have to buy a new roof again."

-I don't remember any such thing.-

"Good morning, Onii-chan."

My sister came in covered in blood.

"Have you eaten already?"

"Yes. Elven hearts are delicious after all."

I turned the faucet.

Bright red water came out.

-I don't remember any such thing.-

Outside, where the asphalt had melted, there was a festival.

People were walking around with sore legs, holding up pieces of elf flesh.

"I am hungry."

"I am hungry."

"I am hungry."

They muttered as they walked along.

Looking up at the roofless ceiling.

Even today, the big eyes are shining brightly overhead.

Eyes spilling bright red tears of blood.

Everyone is desperately trying to drink up.

Everyone is getting burnt.

Burned to a crisp.

Dancing with their charred bodies.

"Looks fun!"

My sister joins in the dancing.

"Come on, Nii-chan, let's go too!"

My younger brother invites me to join.

-Wrong-

That hand, I.

-Don't grab it-

I'm sure it will be a pleasant future.

-Not waiting-

-You shouldn't be here-

-You should go back-

-They're not the ones who were really waiting for you-

"Nii-chan, what's wrong? Look!"

Prelati grabbed my hand

-Confirmation of violation of the established rules-

"Gyaa!"

My brother's arm shattered.

-It is forbidden for the Selector to make contact with [C] outside their faction-

-It is forbidden for the Selector to bring [C] from outside the faction to their side-

-Penalty is invoked.-

-The right of engagement shall be granted to the relevant [C] against the pruner-

-Memory, confirming falsification of information, correcting information and severing forbidden contact-

My vision is dyed white.

-------------

I woke up.

I recognize the ceiling.

Berdreich Kingdom, the roof of the royal castle.

"How long have I been asleep?"

My whole body ached when I moved.

My arms and legs were so stiff, I couldn't move.

"...Shiro-sama? Someone! Shiro-sama has woken up! Someone!"

A servant, perhaps?

Screaming and running around.

I wish I had woken up first before they left.

---------

Quies, Druknen, Gadoga, and Sedona have arrived.

"How dare you show off with such flamboyance against such a formidable foe!"

Gadoga said.

The impact of my all-out blow was enough to shatter all the windows of the majestic castle.

"I'm really, really glad you woke up. Father."

Sedona said.

I didn't wake up for five days.

“What are you going to do if sensei dies before us!?”

“Since I haven’t given a name to Karen and I’s child, it would be a problem if sensei died.”

Quies and Druknen are saying selfish things.

It would be a problem if people were to count on me for living longer than normal, but?

"...What about Wince?"

"...I'm here."

She was right behind everyone

"If you have something to say, I'm listening."

Huh? Is she angry?

"Eh, what?"

"Did you hear that, everyone! What? He said! This guy!"

Oh, she's really mad at me. She called me this guy.

"Then I'll say it so you'll understand! I'm going to say it!"

"Eh, ah, yeah."

"Why did you do it alone? Why did you make me retreat? If something happens to Shiro-san, what am I supposed to do now that I'm going to live forever? You idiot!"

"I... idiot?"

"You're an idiot! If you leave your wife alone and die, you are an idiot, you idiooo---t!"

Don't talk about people like they're dead.

"No, I'm alive as a result."

"Isn't that consequential!"

“Everyone, sensei seems to be okay now, so let’s leave this to Wince-san.”

Quies make everyone leave the room.

W-wait!

Don't leave us alone in this situation!

Please help me!

I can't move yet!

And so it went until the sunset.

Wince was mad at me.
