Eternal Adventurer (WN): Chapter 41

Chapter 41: Negative Legacy

Elfriade Ancient Civilization

Something that existed long ago.

A civilization, so it must be a country

But then the Dragon God simply said

"This land, the countless stars floating in the sky, were Elfriade's domain."

The scale of the difference was too great.

This land was Elfriade's birthplace.

And when was it destroyed?

The Dragon God answered that too.

30 million years ago

How long ago is that on Earth?

The dinosaurs were 65 million years old.

Half that.

It's unimaginable.

A civilization so advanced that interstellar travel was even possible.

-

But there was one thing Elfriade could not do.

Immortality.

Elfriade aimed for immortality

They used every means at their disposal.

And created a life with an immortal body

They called it Elf, and it was a life of eternal youth and beauty.

As a result of the project

The elves were enslaved

They were the receptacle of Elfriade's every desire.

-

Then began the study of immortality.

After a horrific sacrifice.

A life that never dies other than old age

A dragon was born.

It was good in performance, but its appearance was repellent to the Elfriade.

It was used as a vanguard to invade the stars.

-

Elfriade next experimented with breeding.

The goal was the beauty and immortality of an elf, the physical prowess and immortality of a dragon.

The beings born from different lives were said to be better than even dragons.

The end result of this sacrifice was the desired creature.

-

The next step was to create the technology to become that creature.

Brain transplants, soul removal, parasitism.

They thought of every possible way to obtain a new body.

As a result, they chose to use the technique of soul removal and infusion.

Elfriade achieved immortality.

-

Then why are they not here in this world now?

The Dragon God answered that it did not know.

What it does know is this

On the day of the end, the earth and the sky were all enveloped in blue light, and most of the lives died out.

And what survived was the primordial life that exists today.

---------

-The ruins are in the middle of the desert. That was one of the cities of Elfriade-

"What's there?"

-They are the result of a crossbreeding experiment. The thing created in that place was called Dranmeira, the synthetic dragon.-

"Is that the disaster?"

-Yes. When it awakens, it gathers the magic of the atmosphere and is able to move, it will begin to lay waste to this land-

"Can't we talk to it?"

-The synthetic dragon, Dranmeira, has no intellect. Without orders, it will follow its only instinct.-

"Instinct..."

-It's a destructive impulse.-

"Do you know how many there are?"

-About 80, I'd say.-

80......

How do you expect two people to handle that many?

-Don't be afraid. They don't kill each other, but they don't work together either. If you destroy them individually, you will have no trouble defeating them.-

"It's a daunting prospect."

-But if you don't, your home will be destroyed, because that's the closest place they can get-

"Can I ask for someone else's help?"

-I'll leave that to you. If you can beat that thing, then it would be fine-

Asking for help from other adventurers?

But we need something for that.

A reward.

No, it's better to talk to the lord first and have him prepare a reward.

"Hey!"

-Yes?-

"They're dragons, right?"

-Yes, they are dragons. Even though it's mixed up-

Then good. I could use all the help I can get.
