That Person's Face
Ayako is currently sleeping on Fran Ojou's lap.
I'm being scolded by Rain right now.
"Onii-sama! You said yourself that women shouldn't be treated roughly! Why did you treat Ayako-san like that! That wasn't like the normal Onii-sama!"
I have no words to answer. This time, I also showed my emotions, which is rare. I don't even know why I was so irritated.
"I'm sorry... I think I was getting emotional too..."
"What was the scene that made you emotional? Ayako-san was just desperately attacking Onii-sama!"
"Rain-san, please don't blame Light-san too much. It was Ayako's fault this time. In the first place, there was no need for this match. I don't know why she got so upset and went to such lengths......"
Saying that, Fran Ojou looked down at Ayako.
"That's right……"
At that point, Ayako finally seemed to realize it, and although her eyes were closed, she muttered the words back.
"Ojou-sama... I'm sorry... I exposed myself like this because of my personal grudge..."
Fran Ojou stopped Ayako who was trying to get up while saying that.
"You can't get up yet. I'll ask you about the situation after you rest a little more."
Ayako, perhaps still daze, obediently entrusted herself to Fran Ojou and turned her gaze to me.
"Light-dono... I have one question... What is the name of your [swordsmanship] master...?"
"He's an A-class adventurer named Mondo."
Hearing this, Ayako took a deep breath.
"As expected... it was that person..."
After saying that, she shed a tear.
"Again... I couldn't beat that person..."
Me, Rain, and Fran Ojou couldn't hide our confusion at that appearance. For me and Rain, Ayako's connection with old man Mondo was what made us confused, and for her, Fran Ojou, the tears and her regretful appearance confused her.
"Ayako... what kind of relationship does that Mondo-san have with you?"
Fran Ojou asked her what we wanted to hear too. Ayako held her tongue for a while at that question, but as if she had made up her mind, she answered slowly.
"That person... Light-dono's [swordsmanship] master... is my father..."
Rain and I couldn't hide our surprise. I couldn't believe that that old man had a daughter, and that his daughter was near us.
However, only Fran Ojou seemed to understand something.
"I understand why you were so hard on Light-san… Ayako, you are still like a child…"
Fran Ojou patted Ayako's head.
What I heard from there was a shocking story.
Ayako lived with the old man Mondo until she was around 15 years old, learning [swordsmanship], but it seems that she got into a fight with him and left home after her progress was sluggish.
While training as a warrior in order to surpass her father, she was picked up by the current Duke of Saint family, and seems to have come to this day.
However, it seems that her sense of rivalry towards her father, which had faded before meeting me, came back to haunt her. What can I say... I guess it's like I was receiving the backlash against her parent that is typical of adolescence...?
"The way you wield the sword is very similar to my father's, so I couldn't help it, but..."
"If that's why you were harsh on Light-san that much... I'm speechless. I have said before that you did not see Light-san as Light-san. I warned you that was disrespectful to Light-san, didn't I?"
"I'm sorry... Also Light-dono, I am really sorry..."
She apologized for that, but I didn't understand... I was starting to get irritated again...
"Even if Ayako-san defeats me, that doesn't mean you defeated the old man Mondo. I'm still not even close to that old man. There's no way you, the real daughter, can't understand that."
Ayako listens silently. That appearance makes me even more irritated.
"Besides... what is that [sword art]? You didn't learn that from the old man Mondo. To be honest, you lack the basics and training. You're neglecting the basics and doing unnecessary things, which is why you can't reach the intermediate level, isn't it? What kind of nerve do you have to put that on and challenge me to a match by superimposing old man Mondo on me?"
I was so angry that I was about to throw a punch at her, but Rain stopped me.
"Onii-sama... any more is too much."
"Uh... um. I'm sorry... I couldn't help but get angry... However, there's one thing I want Ayako-san to understand. As a result of ignoring what old man Mondo is continuing to do... He's an amazing person who has reached the upper rank. So please understand that comparing him to someone like me is disrespectful to that old man."
I took my eyes off Ayako and told Fran Ojou that I was leaving.
"I'm sorry... Light-san. I'm sorry to have upset you and caused you any inconvenience."
"No... I'm sorry for this too. I got emotional... I may have said too much."
"We'll go back and tell her more about it..."
After such an exchange, we returned to the branch. On the way home, Rain and I were both silent.
The fact that Rain, who had been so angry with me, seemed to have lost all interest in blaming me when she learned what had happened, and I was tired of being really angry for the first time in a long time......
Besides, I don't know how I should face Fran Ojou and Ayako, whom I'll be meeting at the school the day after tomorrow...
I felt nervous as I walked home thinking about this.

ReplyDeleteI just want to say, Rain really sucked this chapter. Getting angry at how Light fought Ayako despite Ayako herself asking for a serious fight and continuing the spar despite clearly being outmatched. Everything that happened this chapter was Ayako's fault and Rain had no right to bitch about ANYTHING. She has no right getting angry at or blaming anyone when it has nothing to do with her. I'm disappointed at how shallow and narrow minded Rain can be. She lost points.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chapter, this thotslayer guy cracks me up man
