Presence of a Spirit
"Still, he's at it. That prince..."
It was Shamu who called out to me.
"Well... it's good that it's not so public, but... I can't show that to Fran..."
I replied, stunned by Ains-sama's behavior, but...
"What are you talking about? Didn't Light-sama show off a lot when she was on vacation?"
Apparently, it came back... I took a lot of damage. Shamu, you're quite good......
"That's... I guess you could call it force majeure... or I would say I don't want her to be with that guy...."
Shamu followed me while grinning.
"Isn't that so? That man preys on women. Compared to him, Light-sama is on the giver side. Even though it's the same s*x, it has a different meaning."
It helps me if you say that. I asked Shamu to change the subject.
"How are Fran and the others doing?"
There, I receive a report from Shamu, who has returned to her serious face.
"She looks tired. Well... it's the first time she had seen a monster's corpse, so it can't be helped that she's tired."
"If only that's all..."
I glanced in the direction where Ains-sama was, and that was enough to convince Shamu.
"Right now, she's resting in a tent with Rain-sama and Ayako-dono guarding her."
"I see. Understood. I'm going to receive a report on Ginko, so please take care of the surroundings for a while."
"I got it."
This time, out of caution, I released Ginko in the [Demon Forest]. She would be a scout, but she is thinning out the strong monsters and large numbers of goblins so she is no longer just a scout. I asked her to find out information about the other adventurer's parties that were ahead of us, as well as the assassins who were targeting Fran.
(Ginko. Can you hear me?)
(Yes, I hear you, Master.)
(Sorry, but I would like a report.)
(Umu. There are two groups of adventurers leading the way. Both parties seem to be targeting orcs, and there are eight people in groups. There are no suspicious movements on their side.)
(What about the monsters?)
(I'm thinning them out as you said...)
(What's wrong?)
(There's something strange about the forest. Several monsters had already been slaughtered before I thinned it out. And I feel the presence of a spirit... I never felt anything like this when I was here.)
(Spirit……?)
(Umu. Spirits are, so to speak, masses of mana with a will. They seem to be wandering in the forest. Master, if you feel a sign of strange mana, please consider withdrawing. They are hostile. They are troublesome.)
(Understood. I'll be careful.)
(Also, Master. There are signs of new adventurers coming from behind, but they smell strange and I'm not sure how many there are. I also sense movement as if they are keeping their distance from Master and the others. Please be on the lookout for them as well.)
(Understood. Thank you, Ginko. If you need anything else, please ask.)
After saying that, I ended my conversation with Ginko and told Shamu. Shamu crossed her arms with a troubled look on her face and began to think.
"A spirit...? Another rare thing has appeared."
I don't know much about spirits, so I decided to ask Shamu.
"Spirits are like Ginko-sama said, they are monsters with a will infused with mana. According to legend, they are said to be the ones who taught magic to humans and demons. But after that, they can be either cooperative or hostile to the humans and demons."
Shamu explained. All I could think was that there were spirits in this world too...
"I guess it would be a bad idea to become hostile to them."
Shamu nodded in response to my question and explained again.
"I haven't actually seen it either, so I don't know the details, but it's said that because it's a mass of mana, it uses ridiculously powerful magic. If you're hostile to it, you'll be hit by [Advanced Magic] class like crazy. Also, the reason why the spirits are hostile is still unclear. It is said nowadays that spirits are capricious."
I guess spirits are fickle even in this world......
"Then... we're not just supposed to be wary of monsters, but assassins and spirits too... It's become troulesome..."
"Light-sama, you've forgotten about the prince and the others."
When I heard that, I held my head with my hands. That's right... that person was there...
It's a mission impossible where I have to protect Fran from the poisonous fangs of the prince, watch out for monsters and spirits, and even deal with assassins targeting Fran while making sure the prince and the others return from the forest without incident...
Honestly, I just want to get rid of that prince and assassins and go home with Fran. It would be easier then.
I shook away my stupid thoughts and left the place to make dinner.

ReplyDeleteYou should just kill the trash prince and dumb whore saint. I understand that there would be huge ramifications for this action, but it would be totally worth it.
