Fenrir and Familiar Contract
I'm just confused.
Because Fenrir suddenly appeared and said it would be my friend.
Moreover, that seems to be Evil God-san's wish.
(Excuse me... can I ask for a detailed explanation?)
Fenrir tilted its head and began to speak.
(Umu. I used to live near the center of the forest, but just recently...... it was five years ago from a human point of view, I heard a holy voice. At first, I didn't understand what it meant, but when I finally understood, I realized that the Demon King was born and I was told to protect him. And that is how I came to this place, searching for signs of the Demon King. I had a hard time finding you because your presence was so faint, but I guess that was because you are still an infant.)
Apparently, it had been wandering around the forest for a while looking for me.
(I'm sorry to have bothered you.)
(Don't be. You will become my master.)
(That's true... Are you really going to join me? I don't have any skills like [Tamer], you know?)
In this world, I learned in Grandma Fel's class that in order to subdue magical beasts and monsters, the skill called [Tamer] is necessary.
(I don't want to become a familiar with such a lowly skill! I want a legitimate familiar contract!)
Fenrir-san was a little angry and taught me about the [Tamer] skill.
Simply put, the [Tamer] skill seems to be a skill that enslaves monsters and magical beasts, so to speak.
For that reason, magical beasts and monsters have their original power suppressed, whereas, in a legitimate familiar contract, contractors can lend their power to each other in both directions.
That's what it was emphasizing.
(By the way, how does this legitimate familiar contract work?)
(It's simple. All you have to do is to connect each other's mana. Then, let's make a contract right away!)
(Eh!? How do we channel the mana? What, wait!?)
Fenrir-san ignored my impatience and held its paw in front of me.
(Touch my hand and let the mana flow. Then the mana will cross and the contract will be established.)
As I was told that, I touched Fenrir-san's hand to push its paw away and let the mana flow.
(What! The amount of mana that can be called a Demon King. And this mana contains an excessive amount of light magic... This contract is too much for me... I must serve you with all my heart and soul or it will not be worth it......)
Saying that, Fenrir-san is in a good mood.
You can tell by looking at its tail.
I have cast my mana and Fenrir-san and I are enveloped in a white light. I wonder how the people around us are looking at us.
(Umu! The contract is now complete! Now the finishing touches! Master, give me a name!)
Aah~ the guy who has to name it, as seen in many otherworldly stories... What should I do?... If it's too easy to name it, I don't want it to be named after Fenrir from other works.
(By the way, is it okay to use Fenrir as it is?)
Fenrir-san was a little miffed at that word.
(What, you won't give me a name? Besides, if it's just Fenrir, one can't tell it apart from the others. It doesn't make me feel special!)
(I'm sorry... then... Ah! By the way, what is Fenrir-san's gender?)
(I am female.)
Female... female, huh... Fenrir with silver hair...
Hmm... hmm...
(Then... what about Ginko?)
Hearing that, Fenrir-san looked at me with sad eyes.
(Can't you give me a cute name or something?)
(No, I'm not sure about a fancy name either, or a name that fits Fenrir-san, or people might think it's plagiarism of another work...... is it a no?)
Fenrir-san gave me consent with a look of disappointment.
(I don't understand Master's troubles, but... if my Master insists, I don't mind Ginko. I have no choice.)
Apparently, Ginko gave in.
(TN: 銀子 (Ginko), 銀 means "silver, money, metal.". 子 means "child, offspring, young, junior, small thing.")
Sorry, Ginko.
I don’t understand Japanese obsession with names that got meaning to it. Just create random word that sounds nice and be done with it. What’s the problem.
ReplyDeleteWtf is not naming it after other works, the god literally already copy pasted the whole world from the novel/manga or whatever he was reading and he's hesitant on a name?
ReplyDelete"I am just confused"
ReplyDeleteFirst line of this chapter sums up my feelings for this novel.
