Side Story: Adventurer Guild's Afternoon
"Now, if you'll excuse me."
With that said, I left the guild master's room.
The guild master seemed to be in a good mood today, and was smiling all the time.
My job now was to inform the guild master of the regular afternoon schedule and offer tea to the guild master.
The smile deepened the most when I reported that a party of six young men and women had reached the condition where they could be promoted from D rank to C rank by defeating the goblins.
That party had once been dealt a painful blow by goblins. But luckily, Light-kun, who had signed up that day, came to the party's rescue.
He must have been very happy to see that the party was growing day by day.
I put away the tea set and returned to the reception desk.
This was in order to do the guild's reception, which is my original job.
But I have no time to work as a receptionist in the afternoon.
It's a bit of a misnomer to say that I'm free, but I mean it compared to other time periods.
Mornings are usually the busiest time.
We put up the day's requests and process them for acceptance by the adventurers who bring in their requests.
The peak time passes before noon.
Many adventurers come to report the completion of requests they received the day before.
In the afternoon, there are those who submit requests and those who register as new adventurers. However, there are not that many.
In the evening, adventurers who have completed the morning's requests return to report their accomplishments, so it is a bit busy.
I was a little distracted when I remembered the look on the guild master's face earlier.
The adventurer guild has been peaceful lately.
The number of deaths and retirements of adventurers has decreased, and those who have behaved badly have somehow continued to be in bad shape and have disappeared before we know it.
The sense of unity between adventurers and the guild seems stronger than ever.
And recently, recovery potion has become cheaper and better quality armor and weapons have become more readily available, so the adventurers are doing well.
Looking back, I wonder when that started, and it all started after Light-kun started coming.
Light-kun does not pretend to be the son of a nobleman, and he treats us, the receptionists and adventurers, in an easygoing manner.
He is a kind and gentle boy who cares about those around him, sometimes taking care to bring us sweets and listening to adventurers who have failed in their requests.
The adventurers who are close to him call him [Aniki], while the other adventurers secretly call him [Saint-sama], perhaps because he heals their wounds with [Recovery Magic] and is treated kindly.
When Light-kun comes, everyone in the Adventurer's Guild smiles.
Only Beatrice-san, his instructor, has a cloudy look on his face and is thinking, [What should I teach him... but I don't have anything more to teach him.......].
Apparently, Beatrice-san said that he could teach him everything from the basics of being an adventurer to the applications of being an adventurer, and he could drum him up to be an adventurer at any time, but because of Light-kun's age, he is not ready to put it into practice yet.
That's right. He can become an adventurer at the age of 12.
Moreover, for combat positions, the minimum age is 15.
Light-kun is only 7 years old... and I had forgotten about it because he is so mature.
Beatrice-san has no choice but to teach him other things, such as how to use various weapons, including bows and daggers, and how to fight as a scout or shield, which are the various positions in the adventuring community.
Even so, Beatrice-san says, [He usually learns everything after a couple of times. That makes him an all-rounder]. I was simply amazed.
At that time, I simply thought that Light-kun was amazing.
Suddenly, I returned my attention to my work, reflecting on the fact that I had forgotten that I was at work and had gotten lost in thought.
Then I heard a loud voice from outside.
"Mohawk-nii-chan! We're tired... please treat me to some juice!"
"What are you talking about? I was the one who helped you guys with your work! It's normal for you to buy me juice!"
"You're a C-rank, so show us F-ranks that you're big enough to buy us a drink!"
"You guys... isn't it cowardly to bring up the disparity in rank there!"
While they were having this conversation, a stern man with bad eyes and hair like a chicken came in, wearing a leather jacket-like armor over his naked body...
Mohawk-san, a C-rank adventurer from this territory, came with some children.
Mohawk-san is usually a scout for parties of the same rank, but on his days off, he often takes care of E and F-ranked children whose main job is to do chores.
Today, these children's job was to receive potions from an apothecary on the outskirts of the capital and bring them to the guild.
Mohawk-san offered to guide and protect them.
"Thank you for your hard work, Mohawk-san. Thank you again for today."
"Don't bother thanking me. It's what I like to do. Where do you want to put the luggage?"
"Right this way, please."
"All right! Almost there! Follow me, you brats."
I led Mohawk-san and the children to the storage room in the back.
After that, I returned to the reception desk and processed the documents for the children's request completion and handed over the rewards to the children.
Mohawk-san called out to me when he saw that it was over.
Children are drinking juice when I look in the direction Mohawk-san came from. It seems that he treated them well.
"I'm sorry to interrupt your work. I was given a request, so could you please listen to it?"
"Yes. From whom?"
"Aniki... no, it's from Light-sama. It seems like he was training at the old apothecary's house today, so he won't be able to come to the guild's training the day after tomorrow. But he'll show up at the branch office in the pioneer village."
"I see. I'll tell the guild master and Bear-san that. Anyway, Light-kun seems to be busy."
Mohawk-san responded with a wry smile at my words.
"Of course he's busy. After all, not only the Apothecary Guild but also the Alchemist Guild and the Blacksmith Guild are training Light-sama. The reason he couldn't come to the Adventurer's Guild this time was because there was an illness in the pioneer village. He decided to go check on it instead of the old woman."
I listened in amazement.
"That much? That's amazing..."
And Mohawk-san nodded with a smile
"Right? I thought Aniki was something else, but he's even more amazing than I imagined! Not only does he have [Recovery Magic] and combat skills, but he also has a talent for making things, which is pretty cool!"
Hearing that, I agreed and nodded back.
That kid is amazing. I thought so again.
Thanks for the chapter
