Royal Castle Side: The Queen's Melancholy
In her room at the royal castle, Queen Principal Saltpage was having tea with her lover.
Although he may be called a lover, her relationship with him is also recognized by her husband, the king. In fact, the king even recommended that she have a relationship with this lover after he was no longer able to spend the night with the queen.
This lover is Principal's first love, her first partner, and the person with whom she had her first child.
It was about 33 years ago.
Principal, who was 15 years old at the time, may have been having a rough time. After hearing about her marriage to the king, she grew tired of being used as a political tool.
Perhaps because of that, she became passionate about her current lover, who was her magic teacher at the school at the time.
And she ended up having a child with him who accepted it.
Naturally, it was soon discovered that she had a child. Since an abortion was not possible, the Duke had no choice but to dispose of the child she gave birth to. She doesn't know how they disposed of it. She was never told. When Principal learned of this, she was saddened.
However, her family, the Duke family in the north, proceeded with marriage negotiations with the king. And in fact, the marriage agreement with the king was concluded.
Principal openly told the king everything, but the king was fascinated by her. The king forgave her for the mistakes she made during her youth and asked her to stay by his side.
Principal had no choice but to respond.
The king had no other women by his side. Perhaps because of this, she and the king were able to have two children who became princes.
When the king realized that he was no longer useful as a man, he encouraged Principal to spend time with the man she had loved so much. And so it is now.
As the sun begins to set, the queen's room, which had been tinted red, begins to lose its color. At the same time, her maid turns on the light in her room.
"You look very tired, Pril."
It was my lover who said that.
"Yeah. My head really hurts. Just the thought of that thing being my child is..."
What bothers Principal is the child she gave birth to, Ains, the second prince.
The rumors about Ains are not good. Ever since Ains decided on a bride when he was six years old, nobles from the north surrounded him. Maybe Because of this, Ains is completely devoted to the North... or rather, to the Church.
After he turned 12, he began to go on inspection trips to the north more frequently, but it seemed like he was meeting with important figures from the Holy Church over there and receiving entertainment. Moreover, it is a shameful content that is unbearable to listen to. As a parent, she's embarrassed...
Although she warned him once, he did not seem to listen, and on the contrary, he showed his arrogance by firing his followers who were on an inspection tour. But that arrogance is in the current politics of the kingdom.
In recent years, the North has largely danced its way into the center of politics. A good example is that the year before last, the finance minister related to the Duke in the west was removed from office and was succeeded by someone from the north. Thanks to this, donations to the church have increased, and this has caused a lot of trouble.
At present, only the Prime Minister and the Minister of War remain properly neutral, while the diplomatic and financial factions are on the North side.
The South, which is seen as hostile to the North, has no influence in the political center, but enjoys strong support from the people.
This is not only because merchants have been enriched by trade with the Republic, but also because the South, which has ample farmland, has provided food aid many times when famine and starvation have occurred. The royal capital has been saved several times by this.
With that being said, the tyranny of Ains, backed by the north, has been accepted.
Perhaps Ains is after the throne......
Recently, her eldest son Schwartz, who is the crown prince, has not been in good health. In proportion to this, Ains has been meddling in politics more and more.
She investigated whether Schwartz had been poisoned, but was informed that there was no sign of it.
However, her anxiety has not subsided.
"It’s scary to think that he might inherit the throne… I have to at least protect Schwartz…"
"It's okay. Ains will be enrolling at my school this year. I'll be watching over him closely, so please rest assured."
"Also, please take care of my cute niece Fran-chan. If that stupid son makes Fran-chan cry..."
"I understand. I think your attachment to your sister and niece is a little too much."
"That's not true. It's a natural attitude. Besides...... I have taken pity on that girl...... Aincibal, because I married into the royal family.......
The sister, Aincibal, is the one who was married as a hostage to the South for the sake of her sister, Principal, so to speak.
The treatment of Aincibal was a problem for the southern nobility to deal with. She was treated like a tumor by those around her, and she rarely felt at ease. The same is true for Aincibal's daughter, Fran.
"Yeah... It was a rash decision to make Fran-chan Ains' fiancée... I wanted her to be able to spread her wings and have peace of mind at least while she was at the academy in this royal capital..."
"I'll take care to make sure that happens."
"Thank you, Strea sensei."
With that said, she smiled weakly at her lover.
Por que eu tenho a impressão de que este rei tem um fetiche de ser corno?

ReplyDeleteThanks for the chapter
ReplyDelete.....Woah woah woah, let's back up here. First, this queen seems like a stupid person who never tried to gain situational awareness or political countermeasures.
ReplyDeleteWithout regret, she cheated on her fiancee and never made proper plans to prevent the death of her child. She just allows most things to take their course (without questioning the morality or repercussions), and her first lover seems worse than her in this regards.
In all honesty, she seems super unfit to be a mother or a queen. Unless the MC, she seems like the type to be a hidden catalyst for an entire kingdom's downfall.
