It was Supposed to be the Third Day of the Vacation
Third day of the vacation.
I never thought I would visit the 4th floor on my vacation...
At dawn, I told Lida and Rain to take a bath and then get some rest, and then I took a quick nap. There was still time until Maria came to wake me up, so I wanted to suppress my excited feelings until then.
Maria woke me up and I took a bath first before sitting down at the breakfast table. I secretly glanced at Fran, nervous that Fran might have noticed, but she seemed nervous for some reason.
This is... she noticed...
Even though I regret what I did last night, I was grateful to Fran for staying silent about our actions.
As the meal progressed, Ayako suddenly asked me a favor.
"Light-dono. I am sorry, but I wonder if you would be willing to keep me company?"
Everyone froze for a moment at those words, but Ayako continued without seeming to care.
"I'm not used to just resting like this... so I feel like my body has become sluggish. Would you like to teach me the same training that you learned from my father, Light-dono? Also, if possible, I'd like to ask you to join me as well."
Ah... that's right. I felt a little relieved, and the people around me seemed relieved as well.
"Training… well, that’s fine, but I think it's not good if it's only us…"
When I said that and looked around, my eyes suddenly met with Shamu's.
"I think Shamu would be good. Also… how about Ginko?"
When I called out to them, Ayako also looked at them.
"If that's what Light-sama wants, I don't mind."
"Fumu. It's fine. I don't mind either, Master."
"Light-dono... are the two of them strong?"
I was a little disappointed in Ayako, who honestly asked me that. If you are someone who trains in martial arts, I would like you to have a better eye for gauging your opponent's ability.
"They are strong. Shamu is a C-ranked adventurer, but she apparently defeated a B-class examiner in one blow, and Ginko is said to be the [guardian of the demon forest]."
"I see... my apologies."
Ayako took a deep breath and bowed to the two.
That's why I came to the 4th floor, which is suitable for battles and training. I immediately started training with Ayako.
"There were two main things I did with old man Mondo. The first was to narrowly avoid his attacks. Then let's get started."
After saying that, I slashed at Ayako. Ayako does her best to avoid it, but it's still a large one. I continued pointing this out.
"It was nostalgic... my father used to make me practice this way. It used to be a very unpleasant practice, but when I see a successful example like Light-dono, my way of thinking changes."
Ayako revealed this to me when we were taking a short break after finishing everything. I don't know if something has changed in the match with me, but the atmosphere is less harsh than before.
Next, I demonstrated my ability to slash a slime. Normally, monsters don't appear on this floor, but today I brought the dungeon core, so I could spawn a slime right away.
"I've never seen this before. What does this mean..."
That's what I heard, so I relayed old man Mondo's explanation to Ayako. Ayako continues to slash the slime while still having doubts about it, but she seems to have finally realized how difficult it is.
Although it continued for a while, Ayako was still unable to defeat the slime.
Next is a mock battle.
"Ayako. Which do you want, me in human form or me in Fenrir form?"
"Which can you be more serious?"
"Then it's Fenrir form. It is only natural that the one in its true form should be more convincing."
They were having such an exchange, but Ginko in her Fenrir form would be an overkill...
Ginko strips in front of Ayako, making Ayako panic, but in order to become Fenrir, she has no choice but to strip...
And so the match between Ayako and Ginko began.
Ginko is a knowledgeable dog, so at first, she focused on dodging Ayako's attacks. After a certain amount of time had passed, Ginko finally began to counterattack, and ended up hitting Ayako with a blow that contained a little of her power.
"Mu. You're not diligent enough to be repelled now. You can't even beat a lizard with that."
That lizard is a lizard monster that occasionally appears in the Demon Forest. Normally, there's no way you can win against a B-rank monster on your own, so what are you talking about Ginko?
While healing Ayako with my [Recovery Magic], I was smiling wrily in my mind.
After a break, next was Shamu.
Ayako's skills were high, though not yet at the intermediate level. The same goes for Shamu. The match should have been evenly matched, but it was not.
Ayako was unable to find an opening to attack against the halberd wielded by Shamu, and was tossed about on many occasions. When she finally found an opening, it was a fake, and she was hit or poked with the handle of the halberd.
Shamu seemed to know what she was doing and never used the edge of the halberd to attack Ayako. I could heal a few cuts with my [Recovery Magic], so there was no need to worry about it.
This is a complete difference in experience. The difference in experience from living as a demon for so many years was obvious.
After a while, Ayako fell down after receiving the final blow, and I used [Recovery Magic] to wake her up.
"No... I was still inexperienced..."
"I'd like to say that's not the case... but I think so too. First of all, you need to be able to properly assess the strength of your opponents. Those two are in the monster class."
When I said that, Ayako smiled and nodded. Rather than saying she was disappointed in what I said, she looked satisfied.
"Light-dono, have you ever had a mock battle with Father?"
After we finished training, Ayako asked me a question on the way back to the second floor.
"Yes. I started a fight with him as soon as we met. I got beaten up."
"Just like me today."
Ayako said and smiled. This may have been the first time she smiled spontaneously while talking to me.
"It's similar, but at that time, my blood was rushing to my head. I went mad when I heard that Lida had been s*xually harassed.''
"That man...... really can't help himself......."
Ayako suddenly turned from smiling to holding her head in her hands. From there, me and Ayako talked about old man Mondo for a while.
I don't know what her feelings for her father are, but I can tell that she still has feelings for him to the point where she's concerned about him.
