Maria's Awakening
Two weeks had passed since Maria-san regained consciousness.
As expected, I couldn't go to training and work for two weeks, and three days after she regained consciousness, I returned to my normal daily routine.
I attended the Knights and the Adventurer's Guild and trained with Master Shan, Grandma Suzuka, and the alchemists.
In the meantime, I asked the old maid Martha and Sebas to take care of Maria-san and Rain-chan.
Before going out in the morning and after dinner, I give Maria-san a treatment.
This became my new routine.
After two weeks of treatment, Maria-san's appearance changed dramatically.
Her gray-like hair turned a beautiful silver color, and when combined with her long hair, it looked like high-quality silk. Her haggard face had regained its firmness and luster, and her wrinkles and spots had disappeared. Although she still looked a little thin, she still looked like she had returned to her actual age.
It was then that I looked into her eyes for the first time and realized that they were the same indigo color as her daughter Rain-chan.
Beautiful silver hair, slightly slanted indigo eyes, and a well-defined face that looks a little mysterious because of its lack of expression......
If I were to use an analogy, would I call her a career woman? No, I'd say she was a cool beauty with a touch of mystery......
I was just admiring it.
Since I was staring at her so much, Maria-san was troubled and asked with downcast eyes, [Is something wrong?].
I panicked and I hurriedly started talking to cover up my mistake.
"No! It's nothing. I was just surprised at how much better you got after the two weeks of treatment. Your rehabilitation with Martha seems to be going well, and you should be able to move around normally."
Maria seemed relieved after hearing that, and her expression relaxed a little.
"Mother! You're back on your feet and you've become so beautiful!"
Rain-chan, who was by my side, said to Maria-san with a happy smile.
Maria-san replied with a gentle smile.
After a while, Maria-san turned to me with a serious expression. It also looked like a slightly depressed expression.
"Thank you very much for all the treatment...... you have given me so far. But I don't have enough to pay for it....... I will definitely pay for it...... but can you give me a few more days?"
Apparently, she seems to be thinking about the payment, and she also seems to think it is expensive.
But I haven't finished my treatment yet, and I don't want to accept money from this person...
This person will always force herself to make money.
Yes, even if she had to sell her body...
I think I understand this person from the previous [God's Eye].
"Um... Maria-san. Your treatment is not over. Chronic mana deficiency will take time to heal. Right now, you're recovering to the point where you can live a normal life, but there's still a risk of you collapsing. So for a while. I will continue my treatment."
Maria-san was puzzled by those words.
"However… I cannot afford to cause you any more trouble… and if you continue with the treatment, I will not be able to pay you back…"
I'm not going to withdraw here.
"To be honest, I don't want to take money from you."
Maria-san was even more perplexed... or rather, she had an expression closer to surprise.
"I know that you're always going to overstep when it comes to paying for Rain-chan and me. I know that, so you don't have to pay me. I can't leave you suffering from your illness. If you insist on leaving, I will stop you even if I have to lock you and Rain-chan up."
Maria-san finally began to shed tears...
The tears are neither tears of happiness nor tears of despair.
They were probably tears of not knowing what to do......
I continue further.
"And it's not just you... Rain-chan has a problem as well. There's a reason why I can't leave you and Rain-chan alone. That's why I want to have a proper discussion to decide the future of you and Rain-chan."
Maria-san's face turned pale at the mention of Rain-chan's problems.
"Let's talk about it when you've made up your mind... Until then, I'll wait."
I told her so and left the room.
Thanks for the chapter
