Eternal Adventurer (WN): Chapter 23

Chapter 23: Blacksmith

On the edge of the town.

That's where my workshop is.

Building a town here.

When that was decided, my ancestors followed the first lord.

But now we're at the edge of the town.

It's not the Lord's fault.

Responding to the unreasonable request to create a town even though he was just a knight

When he succeeded, he was surrounded by nobles who made him a baron.

My ancestors, who were of lowly birth, avoided causing trouble for the first Lord.

The first Lord knew that too, so that's why he prepared a place for us, even here on the edge of the town.

Even though many blacksmiths of the nobility came here.

So, with a letter from the current Lord who inherited the blood of the first Lord.

Two youngsters came.

"Surely it's real. So? What do you want me to do?"

A kid carrying a ridiculously long Zweihander on his back showed me a woodcut with a blueprint on it, his eyes shining.

--------------

"I can't do that. Give it up."

He flatly refused.

"I'll make it clear. If I did that, the handle will definitely break in battle, easily at the joint."

I see. I guess it's impossible.

Folding the handle.

If that's not possible, remove the handle so that it can be shortened.

That request didn't go through.

"Is there any way to do it?"

"That's easy."

Apparently, there is.

"One, take another weapon. Two, cut off the hilt. Three, make a joint that will never break."

"What kind of joints are unbreakable?"

"Some legendary metal or something. I never seen it before."

"Is it Orichalcum?"

You know, Wince!

"Orichalcum or Scarlet sun or Mythril... maybe it's Damascus..."

“It is said that the weapons that are made with it will never break, crack, or get damaged.”

My eyebrows raised.

"But you've never seen one, right?"

"Ah, I've seen nobles brag about it, 'Here's a sword made of it'!'"

"Really?"

"It's just a crude piece of iron that just looks good. I got carried away and hit the knight and it broke."

"Well, I guess there's no such thing."

"Why, you're an adventurer and you don't care?"

"Because it sounds so fake."

"A fake...?"

The lore says it's fake.

"It's made of unbreakable, unscratchable material, right? How do you process it?"

"Ah......"

"I heard it's forged by hitting it with a hammer that's been infused with ancient magic."

"Then maybe those ancient magic weapons are being made as a countermeasure?"

"Ah~...that's certainly true. I've never heard of such a weapon."

"Well, that's just a guess."

"Shall I cut off the hilt then?"

"No, I'll use it as is. I want a long sword, so please make it for me."

"No."

All he did was refuse.

"It was quite fun. As a thank you, I will make you a special weapon that matches your size and ability."

He was a good man.

"Ah, and I'd like some armor, too."

"Oh, we'll make it together. Gotton!"

"Yes! I just have to take your measurements!"

The young woman came from the back.

Her arms are thick and strong.

"Is that your wife?"

That's Wince's impression.

"She's been dumped in a ditch downstream."

Is that an answer? You mean she's your foster daughter, right?

"Isn't he a terrible person? This person named a woman Gotton?"

"Ahaha... that's..."

"Shut up! Go get their measurements!"

"Yes!"

"Wince is going to take measurements too."

"Eh? Me too?"

"Old man! Can you reuse this leather armor together and make an armor?"

"I'll make it out of something else, okay?"

"This one is a scout. I want it to be light and easy to move around in."

"Okay, if there's a way to use it, I'll use it."
