The Demon King of Lust's Cheating Slow Life in Another World (WN): Chapter 71

A Work Called Adventurer

It has been exactly two weeks since we left the Baron territory.

At last, we have reached the point where we can see the city walls of RockQueen, our destination. If we kept going at this rate, we would be able to arrive there in the afternoon.

In the morning, I called Ginko back with telepathy.

As expected, Ginko was soiled with blood and mud, so after breakfast, I took some time to wash Ginko. Then we left.

On the way, I received a report from Ginko.

(Master. Goblins are increasing in the shallows of the forest. The number of adventurers was also increasing, so I could not interfere. If so, adventurers or goblins may appear from the forest later on. Please be careful.)

(Thank you Ginko. I'll be careful.)

I answered and patted Ginko's head.

Flight-san, who was watching the situation, called out to me.

"Light-dono, is there something wrong?"

He seemed to have sensed that Ginko and I were communicating in some way.

"Ginko reported that the number of adventurers and goblins had increased. Now that Ginko is by my side, I think we may see some goblins down the road."

Flight-san pondered for a moment before turning to me and answering.

"Okay. I'll tell everyone to be on their guard."

With that, Flight-san told everyone in the back to be on the lookout.

After a while, Ginko roared.

(Master! I smell blood from the forest! It's getting closer!)

I quickly called out to everyone.

"Something is coming from the forest! Be on your guard!"

As soon as I said that, everyone gathered on the right side to face the forest. Lida, Aletta, and Henrietta climbed onto the carriage and began to watch the whole thing.

After a while Henrietta cried out.

"There's something coming from the bushes ahead!"

At the same time, three adventurers crawled out of the forest.

As one can see, they are heavily injured, and arrows are stuck in their shoulders and stomachs. Some slash wounds are also visible and they are dying......

Me, Flight-san, Bless and Vega start running towards the adventurer.

"Goblins! They're coming towards us!"

Vega shouts as he runs between the goblins and the wounded adventurer. I fire an [Air Cutter] at the goblin in the rear to cover him.

"Nice! Light! Let's take care of these Flight-danna!"

Saying that, Bless slashed away the goblin that was fighting with Vega, and slashed at the goblin in front of him.

I immediately cast [Middle Heal] on the three adventurers to heal their wounds, and [Cure], a detoxification magic, on the two who had been hit by arrows. Apparently, they had put poison in the arrows.

Flight-san, who was watching me, was surprised.

"What! Light-dono could also use [Recovery Magic]! No, more importantly, you guys! Can you step back? If you can, run towards the carriage!"

Flight-san yelled as he ran towards Vega and the others.

"Watch out. There's an archer among the goblins! And the rest of our people are still in the forest! Help them!"

The three adventurers said to Flight-san and the others.

At that moment, a small scream came from the carriage.

It looks like Aletta got hit by the goblin archer!

I saw Rain heading in the direction the arrow came from.

I lead the three adventurers back to the carriage.

I jumped on top of the wagon, and I went up to Aletta and applied [Heal] and [Cure] to her.

On the way, Rain came back. She didn't appear to be injured, which made me a little relieved.

"Onii-sama! Is Aletta-san safe!"

"Yes. I'm fine. Light-kun cast [Recovery Magic] on me."

She said to Rain.

"Rain! I was worried when you ran out so suddenly!"

I unintentionally scolded Rein.

"I'm sorry. Onii-sama... but I think I have to do something about it quickly..."

"Well... um... I'm sorry. I was worried and ended up yelling. So, what happened to the archer?"

"I killed it. But I left it alone because I thought it would be better to hurry back."

"Understood. Let's go check it out later. It seems that these people's companions are still in the forest."

With these words, Rain looked at the three of them with concern.

The three were being questioned by Jereid-san.

"Hey! We're done over here!"

Vega-san and the others came back while shouting.

"For now, we'll go find these guys' companions, Light, and Flight. I'll ask one of you to guide us. Can I ask the rest to escort the carriage and clean up after the goblins?"

Jereid-san suggested, and everyone nodded.

"Jereid-san. Is it okay if I take Ginko with me too?"

"Yeah. That would be better."

Thus, Ginko and I, Jereid-san, Flight-san, and one of the adventurers from earlier went into the forest.

The forest was filled with the smell of blood.

Even as a human, the smell is painful, but Ginko would have a harder time......

(Ginko, are you okay?)

(There's no problem, Master. But the smell is so strong that it's hard to tell the difference between human and goblin. Don't rely on it too much.)

(I understand. Just tell me the direction.)

Ginko led us in the direction of the strong smell.

A man and a woman were lying on the ground at the destination Ginko led us to.

The woman had an arrow in her neck and died, and the man was lying on the ground with multiple arrows and cuts as if he were protecting her.

Seeing that, one of the adventurers raised his voice and began to cry...

I pulled the arrows out of the bodies of the man and woman and cast [Heal] on them. The dead do not come back to life......

However, I didn't feel comfortable leaving them in this tragic state.

Flight-san, who was watching me, tried to stop me, but I guess he understood my intention and kept quiet.

The bodies of the man and woman were cleaned up.

Then we carried the bodies back to the carriage.

When I explained the situation to the others who were waiting in front of the carriage and brought the bodies to them, the three of them thanked me in tears.

The bodies were loaded onto the carriage, and for this occasion, Maria gave up her seat so that we could load the bodies inside.

This was the first time I learned the cruelty and harshness of the work of an adventurer......
