Shopping Together
After breakfast, we checked each other's schedules, and McQueen-san decided that he would stay in this city for one week.
So far, McQueen-san had been examining monster materials at the Guild, but this time he had not had as much success as he had hoped.
"Apparently, the number of goblins has increased and the number of wolf and boar type monsters has decreased compared to previous years...... The price of the fur of the beasts has gone up. I think I'll stay here for another week to see how things go, then head to the capital and return to the Republic."
"We went hunting in the forest, but we didn't make much money because it's all goblins."
It seems that Vega, Bless, Aletta, and Henrietta headed to the forest in response to a request from the Adventurer's Guild, but their expressions didn't look too good.
While the four of them were in the forest, Lida, Jereid-san, and Flight-san took turns escorting McQueen-san.
"For now, I understand what McQueen-danna said. How about we each take a good rest for the rest of the week?"
Jereid-san checked with everyone, and after getting approval from everyone, he concluded the talk.
After confirming our plans, we were walking toward the commercial district. We were going to furnish the house we had purchased.
Basically, I have no taste in most things. Clothes, accessories, sword decorations, room remodeling...
Just thinking about it makes me lose confidence......
Maria and Rain say [that's not true], but I don't think so.
So I asked Maria, Rain, and Lida, who came with us, to choose the furniture this time.
My simple request was, [If it feels calm].
The first store we visited was a store that sold used goods, and it looked pretty good to me...
It didn't seem to have much of an impact on the three of them.
I tried to buy a desk, chair, and bed for my room, but Maria stopped me from getting a bed.
"I think it would be best to use a new bed. A second-hand bed might make a creaking noise......"
When she said that, I honestly agreed.
The next store had new beds, and this one had items that would satisfy women. I also like the products of this store because they are simple.
Here I bought a bed for each of us, a sofa and table for the living room, and a desk and chair for Maria and Rain's room.
The guy at the store offered to bring in the items I purchased free of charge, but I declined.
I have [Spatial Magic] so I don't need it. I put away my purchases on the spot, but as I expected, they were surprised.
Maria and Rain were less surprised because they knew that I usually put everything into [Spatial Magic], but Lida was different.
"L-Light-kun? Isn't your spatial magic capacity incredibly high? Light-kun could probably make a lot of money if you become a merchant."
"Well, I trained. And I don't think I'm particularly interested in being a merchant, haha."
I laughed and tried to cover it up.
The next store is a store that sells kitchen furniture and miscellaneous goods, and seems to be a purveyor to restaurants and aristocratic chefs.
Maria's eyes were shining. She likes to cook, so on the road, she cooked breakfast and dinner to the delight of everyone at the party.
Here I bought a table and chairs for meals and miscellaneous items for use in the kitchen.
After that, I went to various stores to see if there were any other good interior designs, and had lunch at a stylish cafe.
While we were relaxing over after-meal tea at that store, I caught sight of Rain, who was looking at a store across the street from the cafe.
"Rain? Do you want some clothes?"
Yes. What Rain was staring at was a casual dress displayed in the show window of a clothing store.
I don't really understand it, but it's not something luxurious like the nobles would wear, but more like something worn for everyday wear.
"N-no! That kind of thing is..."
"It's fine. I'll buy it for you. It's my way of saying thank you for always staying by my side. Maria, why don't you join us and look for something you're interested in?"
"Me too?"
Both parents were a little flustered, but they didn't seem too upset, which made me happy.
"Good for you! Maria-san, Rain-chan!"
Lida looked at the two and smiled happily.
I invited them to the clothing store to make them happy, but on the contrary, I ended up being happier.
After all, the material is good, so it looks good no matter what you wear.
Rain, who doesn't often wear skirts, looks a little shy, but she wears a white skirt with lace accents.
And a white shirt with frills.
As expected, when she dresses like this, she gives off the atmosphere of being a noble's daughter.
Maria is wearing a white shirt with the same frills as Rain and a long navy blue skirt.
She looks like a neat and tidy schoolteacher. It would be perfect if she wore a cardigan over her shoulders.
Lida joined in too, and she turned Maria and Rain into dress-up dolls for a while.
When I was going to put away the clothes I bought in the [Spatial Magic], the two of them said, [I want to carry it myself], so they happily held them in their arms and started walking.
When I was ready to go home, I saw a street vendor.
The person is selling accessories.
"Can I go have a look?"
I told the three of them and started looking around.
I thought that since I had bought clothes, I might as well put on some accessories.
To be honest, there were not many good ones (in terms of performance), but I thought it would be rude to choose randomly, so I searched seriously and bought them.
I gave each of them the items I had purchased.
"Maria, thank you for everything. It's lonely just having clothes. I'll also give you an accessory."
I gave her a necklace with a sapphire attached to a thin silver chain.
"Eh! Um..."
"These earrings are for Rain. They have the same sapphires as Maria's, so I think they match."
Sapphire earrings dangling from a gold chain for her.
"Wait! Onii-sama!"
"I just wanted to thank you for going shopping with us today. Thank you, Lida!"
I gave Lida a jade bracelet for her help today.
I chose them all based on the color of their hair and eyes.
I chose it because I thought it would be okay even for someone with my lack of taste. I'm sure it will be fine.
The three of them blushed and looked down as if they didn't like the present. I became worried, so when I tried to talk to them, Lida seemed a little angry and started talking.
"Hey! Light-kun! Do you know what it means to give a woman jewelry of the same color as her!?"
"Eh?"
"You're kidding…… Light-kun, although you were originally the son of a noble, you even studied hard…… but I wonder why you are so ignorant……"
Lida held her head in her hands, and I tilted my head.
"Look... Light-kun... giving a woman jewelry with the same color as her is seen as a marriage proposal. And when you get married, you wear jewelry of the man's color. It's common knowledge......"
I froze for a while.
Did this ignorant woman forget the context of Light's upbringing? The neglected son of a mere baron. Obviously there are gonna be some gaps in his knowledge.
