The Price of Recovery Magic
I'm currently at the knight's office.
I consulted Sebas before my 5th birthday.
"I want to practice [Recovery Magic]. I want to go out and help people who are hurt."
This is just a front.
In reality, I have finished reading all the books in the main building, and most of my studies with Sebas and Grandma Fel have been finished, so these days I mainly practice magic.
Frankly speaking, I am bored.
Besides, after being locked up in the annex for nearly five years, I have a longing to get in touch with the outside world.
Also, the people I will meet are not the same as the ones I meet inside the annex.
In that case, my skill copy will be a waste of treasure.
Yes. I want to collect skills.
I am driven by that desire.
Sebas didn't give a response on the day I asked for some time to think about it.
Finally, a few days later, Sebas gave his permission.
"Let's start with the Knights. After that, let's see how Light-sama's [Recovery Magic] goes, and then we'll go to the Adventurers' Guild, and if we can stay overnight, we'll visit villages outside the capital."
This was a very welcome suggestion.
"If it's possible, could we make it possible for the Knights and the Adventurer's Guild to teach me sword, magic, and fighting techniques?"
I asked, more greedily.
"If so, how about making that the price? The minimum fee for [Recovery Magic] is five silver coins. If the fee is high enough, it can be as high as two gold coins. If that is the case, how about using [Recovery Magic] for a flat fee of one silver coin, minus the fee for instructing Light-sama?"
"That's good! That one. Will Sebas going to talk to them?"
"Of course. I will talk to both the Knights and the Adventurers' Guild."
This makes me quite happy. I couldn't help but smile a big smile.
"Thank you! Sebas. I look forward to it!"
And back to the beginning.
When I entered the office, I was led to the commander's room.
There, instead of the nice Grandpa Malberk who always came to see me, there was Malberk, the dignified and strong knight commander.
"Light. I'm sorry. I've got some work for you to do even though you just got here. Yesterday, among the knights who returned from the pioneer village in the [Demon Forest], there are about four who were seriously injured. I need you to take care of them."
Malberk himself guided me to the infirmary.
There were knights there, wrapped in multiple layers of bandages, looking as if they were in pain. Some of the knights had been giving me lessons on their off-duty days.
"How is it? Can you do it?"
Knight Commander Malberk asks me in a gentle voice.
"Yeah. I'll do my best."
After answering that, I approached one of the knights and held out my right hand over the wounded area. I switched my mana to light magic and then to [Recovery Magic].
Honestly, I'm pretty used to this process.
After all, I practiced a lot when I had nothing to do.
I used [Recovery Magic] on Lilei when I was born...
Pale green mana flows into the knight's body.
Here, I examined him with the [God's Eye].
It looked like there were bruises, broken bones, and cuts, but each one gradually disappeared.
The HP is also fully recovered.
"Eh! It doesn't hurt anymore!"
The knight, who had been lying on the bed groaning until just now, suddenly jumped up.
After seeing that, I went to the next patient.
After healing everyone, I returned to Grandpa Malberk.
"I've healed all of them. However, [Recovery Magic] can't do anything about the blood they lost, so it's up to the apothecary to do the rest."
When I said that, I looked at Grandpa Malberk's face, but his eyes widened in surprise.
"No... I was quite surprised... I didn't expect it to be this amazing."
Then he looked at me and patted my head.
With his usual gentle smile.
"That's amazing, Light! And thank you."
After that, we went back to the Commander's office and talked about the reward over tea.
"Light-sama wants the knights to teach him swordsmanship, magic, and fighting techniques as a reward."
Malberk is a little suspicious when he hears this, but then he looks at me and calls out to me.
"Is that what you want, Light? Is that really what you want in return?"
I look straight at Grandpa Malberk and answer.
"Yes. I want to become a strong person like Grandpa Malberk. That's why I want the knights to train me."
Hearing my answer, Grandpa Malberk bursts out laughing.
"Hahaha! I-I haven't felt this happy in a long time. It's such a blessing to Grandpa that my grandson thinks so much of me!"
After that, the reward was gladly accepted and I immediately went to the knight's training ground to train with the knights.
It feels good to move your body in a large place!
