Assassin's Attack
While I was running, I was thinking about the mysterious being that controlled the spirit.
It probably attacked Ains and the others this time because it thought it was siding with me. Considering that, it's hard to explain to everyone...
After all, two people have been sacrificed. I feel really sorry when I think about that......
"Onii-sama... are you okay? You look pale..."
Rain worried for me even while I was running.
"Yeah... I'm fine. Right now, we need to get Fran out of the forest first."
Rain nodded and faced forward again.
(Master! It's the assassins! We're already surrounded!)
"Stop! Assassin!"
At the same time as I shouted, something jumped out from the bushes of the forest. It was a purple, spherical mass of mucus...
"Damn it... poison slime...?"
Ayako muttered with a bitter look on her face.
(Master! It seems there are a few tamers in the mix! My nose didn't work because of the poison slime! I'm going to hunt the tamers. Hold out until then!)
(Understood. But... I'll ask you to hurry. We're also surrounded by quite a few people.)
I keep an eye on my surroundings while having such interactions.
There are 6 of them right now, just the ones that jumped out...
There are quite a lot of people around from the presence detection...
"Don't attack them blindly... If you cut them badly, they'll spread poisonous mucus..."
I carefully readied my sword. I am the only one with [Intermediate Sword Art] who can cut this without scattering the mucus.
I have to find a way to cut them down at all costs...
Just as I was thinking that, several tree roots protruded from the bushes and pierced the poison slime...
The slimes in front of me jumped on me, but I was able to cut them down with my sword without spreading their mucus.
When I checked my surroundings using my [Presence Detection] skill, I noticed that the number of slimes that were there just now had disappeared all at once.
While we were stunned, the spirit I saw earlier appeared in front of me. But now, perhaps because its mana is weak, I don't feel the strong mana it had earlier, and more importantly, it's transparent.
The spirit stared at me for a while, then pointed at a certain point.
It looked like something was wriggling at that point, but I gradually realized that it was Ginko, carried by the roots of the tree.
(Ginko! Are you okay!)
(Master... I was careless... They were hiding poison slime for self-defense...)
I quickly applied the antidote magic [Cure] and the [Recovery Magic]'s [Middle Heal] on Ginko.
(Fuu... I was saved... I never thought that a spirit would save me. Did Master send this?)
I shook my head.
(No... I don't understand. But it doesn't seem to have any hostile intent toward us.)
I told her so, deceptively.
(What happened to the assassins?)
(I took out all of them except for one. Apparently, that person was the tamer who was controlling the poison slime... I was caught off guard by that person.)
(I see... that one escaped... too bad...)
While we were talking using telepathy, the spirit tapped me on the shoulder and pointed again. Then, the bushes started to wriggle out again and brought out an unconscious adventurer-looking man.
(Eh? You caught him?)
When I send telepathy, the spirit nods back.
(Can you speak?)
When I asked that question, the spirit shook its head.
(Understood. Thank you for your cooperation. Will you please give my regards to your master?)
The spirit nodded and disappeared from the scene.
"Onii-sama… was the one from earlier a spirit?"
Rain asked me with a strange look on her face, so I nodded in response.
"Is that the spirit that attacked Ains-sama?"
Fran asked me as if she had doubts as well.
"Yeah... it's definitely the spirit that Shamu and I saw."
"Then why were we saved...?"
I can't answer that... I didn't think it attacked because of a misunderstanding......
"I don't understand..."
I had no choice but to say that.
"It's a good saying that spirits are fickle......."
Shamu said.
I first transferred Ginko, who was stained with blood, and the adventurer that the spirit had captured to the dark elf village in the dungeon, and left everything to Ginko.
Then, I returned to the forest and started walking again to get through the forest. Actually, it might be okay to teleport out of the forest, but I thought it would be necessary to create an alibi to fool Ains and the others.
Thus, the training camp for Ains and the others comes to an end, leaving behind two precious sacrifices and the mystery of the spirits.
Tftc.
