The Demon King of Lust's Cheating Slow Life in Another World (WN): Chapter 90

Side Story: Frontier Count Mascargo

The mansion of the Frontier Count Mascargo family in the capital is a simple and sturdy building that looks like a fortress.

In fact, this building was once a fort.

It was made to be sturdy, assuming attacks from monsters.

This fortress was bestowed by the royal family along with the territory when the Mascargo family was listed as a Frontier Count, and in order to live permanently there, they built a mansion on the site of a former military drill ground.

Julietta Mascargo, the current owner of the mansion, was in the reception room receiving a report from Kaiser, the guild master of the Adventurers' Guild of RockQueen.

"Thank you very much for the cooperation of the Knights."

Kaiser bowed his head and expressed his gratitude.

"It's what I promised. Don't worry about it. On the contrary, I must thank you. It is thanks to you and the adventurers that we were able to endure, protect, and defeat the source of the problem. I thank you from the bottom of my heart."

With that, the young Frontier Count bowed his head.

Kaiser panicked at this. Because nobility should not bow down to commoners.

"Please look up! I'm the only one here, but if there were others, it would be a big problem."

Julietta looked up and apologized with a slightly mocking smile.

"No, I'm sorry. But it's true that I'm grateful to you. I wanted to express that."

Julietta picked up the cup on the table and took a sip of the tea. This young Frontier Count is what most people would call a handsome man. Every movement was picturesque.

Kaiser reports after things have calmed down a bit.

"This time, three goblin nests were discovered. A party of 16 adventurers and a group of 120 knights were divided into three groups and were able to attack them all at almost the same time. The casualties were two dead adventurers and 12 wounded. In the Knights, there were no deaths and 15 wounded. The bodies of several women who appeared to have been abducted into the nest were found...... and none of them were alive."

Julietta frowned at that report.

"The captives were not alive...... it is unusual for goblins, but do you know what caused it?"

"Perhaps the goblins were short on food. Most of the bodies were nothing but bones, the rest had starved to death."

"When food was prioritized over breeding... I guess it was close to stampede..."

Julietta gasped.

If it had been a little later, it would have been a disaster of unprecedented proportions.

"Once again, I have no choice but to thank you. Currently, it seems that a stampede has occurred in the other Frontier Countries. It's great that we were able to prevent it from happening."

"Yes. I have heard about it. I have received requests from the guilds to send adventurers to help, and we are in the process of allocating adventurers."

Julietta thought about this for a while.

"The Adventurer's Guild has received a request, so why hasn't one come to me?"

"With all due respect...... perhaps they are concerned about their appearance and are not making a request to you, Julietta-sama. I think they thought it would be bad form to rely on another family, even if it was a close relative."

Julieta frowned and muttered bitterly.

"That's absurd. You can't protect the people with appearance. I didn't want to become a nobleman after all."

Kaiser could not reply to these words.

The two kept their mouths shut for a while.

In the meantime, the two of them ponder what to do in light of the current situation.

Julietta was the first to speak.

"Okay. I've decided. Kaiser-dono, the Frontier Count family will lend you the knights. Organize a party of knights and adventurers and send them to support the guilds."

Kaiser was surprised by this. It's an idea that can't be imagined if it's normal, such as lending a knight order. Moreover, it is loaned to him. Kaiser's surprise is deep.

"I am willing to lend, that way, they will be able to maintain the dignity of the nobility. And if we don't deal with it now, the goblins in each territory could turn on us. I think this is necessary to protect the Frontier territories."

Kaiser thought for a while and then made a decision.

"I am in awe. I will prepare to respond. I hope that Julietta-sama will inform the members of the Order...."

"I understand. I look forward to working with you, Kaiser-dono."

Julietta shook Kaiser's hand tightly.
