Current Status in the Baron Family
After talking about skills, we decided to take a short break, so Sebas made us some tea and the three of us had a relaxing time.
While we were having tea and talking about other things, there was a knock at the door from outside, and Martha, the old maid, peeked out.
"Felticia-sama… the master is calling."
Martha apologized to Grandma Fel.
To which Grandma Fel and Sebas announced the end of today's class with a slightly disappointed look on their faces.
It seemed that today's call would take time.
Stefano hasn't been in a good mood lately.
It is also because the development of the territory is not going as well as he would like.
In this kingdom, there are five territories adjacent to the [Demon Forest], one of which is Baron Garcia's territory.
The territories adjacent to the [Demon Forest] have been ordered by the Kingdom to develop the [Demon Forest].
The current baron's territory was originally ruled by a frontier count, but the count's family was severed, so the then-baron Garcia, who was a bureaucrat in the center of the country, and another viscount received and ruled a division of the frontier count's lands.
Therefore, the city and mansion where I live now are so large that they are not appropriate for the status of a baron.
This is because we were given the entire town and mansion where the Frontier Count lived, not because of anything the Baron Garcia family did.
Incidentally, the Viscount who received the other half of the Count's territory has made the city that used to be the second city when it was the Count's territory the capital.
Back to the topic, Stefano was in a bad mood because he was being compared to the Viscount family in the neighboring territory.
The viscount isn't flashy, but he's been steadily cultivating the area for a long time, and it is said that they occasionally offer precious monster materials to the royal family.
On the other hand, the Baron Garcia's cultivation has not developed much since the time of his receipt, and he has not been able to donate any monster materials.
In defense of this misunderstanding, Baron Garcia contributed more to the kingdom through trade and tariffs with the neighboring Republic than through the development of its territory.
And to the royal family, he presents rare items obtained through trade.
This time, during the spring social gathering, the royal family casually pointed out the issue of territory development, which only put Stefano in a bad mood.
There are other reasons why Stefano is in a bad mood.
It's about the eldest son, Adio.
Originally, Adio was supposed to graduate from the school this year and marry his fiancé.
After the marriage, he was supposed to return to the territory and assist his father, Stefano, for a while to gain experience as an heir.
However, the important Adio has repeated a year at the school...
Apparently, it is rare for students to repeat a grade.
Apparently, he did not earn enough credits in political science.
Therefore, Adio will remain at the school as a student.
It seems that he will be living in the royal capital with Felika, who will be enrolled in the academy this year.
Adio's problem is not limited to that.
It seems that he got his hands on the daughter of a merchant who is a classmate of his at the school.
As a result, the engagement with his fiancé almost broke off, but it seems that Stefano managed to somehow avoid it.
The reason why he did so much is because this engagement was very important for Stefano politically.
The engagement was to a third daughter of a Count who had a fiefdom in the north.
In other words, it was a big step to get closer to the Holy Church.
It seems that he was planning to use this as a foothold to invite the church or the healer mages to the Baron territory.
However, the Adio incident seems to have tarnished his credibility.
This was probably the biggest reason for Stefano's bad mood.
For Stefano, his hope is now with Felika.
Felika seems to have been an excellent student since he was a child, and he was happy that he was able to enter the school at the top of his class this time.
And if Felika successfully graduates, he's thinking of having him work in the central government bureaucracy.
As a bureaucrat, he creates connections with the central government while gaining an advantage in negotiations with the north...
And he's trying to calculate something that he won't take.
The only thing that eases Stefano's mood is such fantasies and his nighttime activities with Lilei.
The above is the result of my [God's Eye] observations of the servants and Stefano himself.
Thanks for the chapter
